Acting and Audition Coaching

Gain confidence by learning techniques you can rely on to craft your songs, monologues or scenes into repeatable performances.  Whether you need cold reading and 'quick fix' techniques for an audition or in depth preparatory acting work, Lisa will provide you with nuts and bolts, time-tested techniques for working on material.

Learn to lay the groundwork for establishing the arc of any piece and learn HOW to make specific, compelling choices that directors and casting directors are always looking for. Honest emotional connection is developed through simple steps that result in organic body language. Techniques for structuring & analyzing text are taught.  Songs are explored as monologues and developed dramatically as scenes; subtext is used in songs and monologues to create a 'journey'. The techniques will incorporate some basic acting vocabulary, and you will come away with a checklist of useful and evocative tools for working on text from any period and medium.

Once you can 'hit your marks' with consistency, the emphasis on the technical is thrown away, leaving you free to 'act.'

Lisa suggests you video record your acting sessions, watch them and integrate the work when practicing at home. You will learn more from WATCHING YOURSELF than you can imagine. With pocket-size video, there is no excuse for an actor to be unaware of what they are 'putting out there' - we don't know until we actually see ourselves. What we experience and feel on the inside does not necessarily ‘translate’; we need outside eyes – particularly our own.
